Trump and Putin

America, Britain and France stood together last night in their misguided attempt to teach Syria and President Assad a lesson.

While ordinary citizens on both sides of the pond are, in the main, against such action, President Trump has been quick to call the mission a success.

It is believed that more than 100 missiles were fired at military installations last night. And while the allies are saying it’s “mission accomplished”, reports in Syria suggest that several of these missiles were shot down before hitting their targets.

It is being reported that 70 people died as a result of American-led action, but that hasn’t stopped Trump from giving himself and his cronies a slap on the back.

In a tweet published on Saturday, he said:

“A perfectly executed strike last night. Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!”

And then this 10 minutes later:

“So proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had. There won’t be anything, or anyone, even close!”

After continually criticising action in Syria over the years, Trump has sold out — intoxicated by the power of the deep state. It turns out that, when push comes to shove, he’s an interventionist like all of his predecessors.
